SAMUEL C. WALKER NEWSLETTER

Welcome to our publication dedicated to uniting family. The title bears the name of the last WALKER of whom I have information on in our family tree. It is my hope he will become the first WALKER we focus our attention upon to trace our family history back through the generations. Any help you can give to unite our family will be gratefully accepted. The publication goal of this newsletter is weekly with a submission deadline for articles by noon on Sunday. Eight years and eleven days have passed since the inaugural edition of this very newsletter. Goals were optimistic, such as weekly publication, lots of people submitting articles, and tracing the Walker family further back from Samuel, etc. Here we go with another issue!

Also, eight years ago this month, Ed, Rachelle, Nathaniel, John, Soona, Susan, Matthew, Gina, and Ben toured the Palmyra Temple during the Open House. Soona participated in the dedication at the Temple. Rob and Amy were still newlyweds (not even a year yet,) Joe was on his mission in Korea, Jared was on his mission in Mongolia, Sue was starring in the Oriskany production of Register Here, Matt was trying-out for the New York State ODP team in soccer, Gina received the Star Wars Episode I tape for her birthday, and Ben was starting the Geneology Merit Badge in Scouts.

This past month saw the following. The next generation of Walkers! Isaiah Oran Walker led off the newest generation being born eight weeks prematurely to Rob and Amy. He was born on Saturday, March 29^th, at 3:34 p.m. in Orem, Utah weighing 4 lbs and measuring 16 inches. Lina Lee Walker arrived to Joe and Young-Soon on Sunday, April 13^th, at 5:20 a.m. in Orem, Utah weighing 7 lbs 9 oz and measuring 20 inches. She was a few days late. This week Jared and Jessica announced that Jess has tested positive with the pregnancy tests and is due in December!

Family get-together. On Wednesday through Friday this past week, April 16^th – 18^th, Ed, Rachelle, Nate, Nolan, Neleah, and Nevada came from the Buffalo area to visit Dad (Robert Kimball Walker,) John, Soona, and Ben in the Utica/Whitestown area. It was good to see everyone. The weather was great, and we’re still cleaning-up from the water-balloon battle.

New Temple work. On Friday evening, April 18^th, three generations of Walkers went to the Palmyra Temple. Robert Kimball Walker and Benjamin Chu Walker both took out their own endowments. Ben has been called on a mission to Lima Peru South. Robert was then sealed to his wife Marjory, Soona acting as her proxy, and John and Ben being the witnesses. John was then sealed to his parents. It was a very special evening.

On the way to the Temple, Ben and Soona also stopped at the Sacred Grove.

Samuel C. Walker The following was gleaned from both census and personal records. Samuel was born about 1790 in either Massachusetts or Maine. He married Evaline Hale, who was born about 1796 in Massachusetts. They lived in Madison, Somerset County, Maine, where their six children were born. Charles Henry was born about 1830, Asenath was born about 1832, Lucy was born about 1833, Almeda was born about 1835, Bridget was born about 1838, and G. Henry was born about 1841. Both Samuel and Evaline were alive on August 10, 1850. Charles Henry married Ellen M. Dickinson on November 17, 1860. They had two children, Frank Henry and Ida May. Ida May drowned in Lake Sunapee in New Hampshire on August 17, 1886. Frank Henry married Mary Estelle Vance about 1893. They had two children, Leon Francis born on February 23, 1896, and Harold Everett, nicknamed Weary, born in April 13, 1899. Leon Francis, nicknamed Johnnie, married Mildred Calista Kimball in 1922.
